Emceeing with Purpose: City Lights Foundation Trivia Night in Tulsa

Last week, I had the honor of serving as emcee for City Lights Foundation’s Trivia Night in Tulsa for the third year in a row. It’s an event that manages to be incredibly fun while supporting serious, important work in our community.

And this year was a big one: they raised $216,000 for neighbors experiencing homelessness, making it their most successful Trivia Night yet.

More Than Hosting an Event

As a professional emcee in Tulsa, I believe the job is about much more than reading a script or making announcements. A great event host helps set the energy in the room, keeps the program moving, connects the audience to the mission, handles transitions and unexpected moments, and makes sure people understand why they’re there.

That matters even more at a nonprofit fundraiser.

City Lights Foundation serves our community through programs including Night Light Tulsa, which takes place every Thursday, Housing Stability, and the upcoming City Lights Village.

Being able to use my experience as a TV host, professional speaker, actress and communication coach to support organizations doing meaningful work is one of my favorite parts of being an emcee.
